Montgomery County R-II

MCR2 will be holding preschool screenings for any 4 year old child in our district (must be 4 by July 31, 2024) at Montgomery City Elementary on March 13 and at Jonesburg Elementary on March 20. Your child must be screened to be considered for Title 1 Preschool in the 2024-2025 school year.

Due to the potential timing and the impact of the potential snowfall , the montgomery County R-II School DIstrict will not be in session on Friday, February 16th. However, Friday, February 16, will be an AMI day.

The Montgomery County R-II School District would like to announce the January winner of the Wildcat Award. The Wildcat Award is given to a staff member who exemplifies our mission of creating lifelong learners and productive citizens. We are excited to present this award to Mr. John Hutchison. John Hutchison is a custodian at Montgomery County High School. His nominations say: John does a great job and leaves no task unfinished. He goes above and beyond to ensure the high school is clean and neat for our students, staff, and community. He does a thorough job and is always thinking of ways to improve our school. Since he started, many community members have commented on how nice the high school looks. Students often approach him and thank him for his efforts in cleaning specific areas. John does a fantastic job keeping our building clean and orderly. He also goes above and beyond to be friendly to the students and staff. It is rare that students know the name of an evening custodian, but John engages with the students during their evening practices and events and truly shows his support. They recognize it and think the world of him. As a staff member John is always supportive of our events and activities and goes above and beyond to help us set up and tear down from events. You can tell John has a lot of pride in his work and truly cares about the impression that our building makes on the community. John makes an impact on the students by making it a welcoming place for our students. Congratulations, John, we truly appreciate your dedication to our students!

The Montgomery County R-II School District would like to announce the January winner of the Wildcat Award. The Wildcat Award is given to a staff member who exemplifies our mission of creating lifelong learners and productive citizens. We are excited to present this award to Mr. Scott Kroeger. Coach Kroeger is a science teacher at Montgomery County High School and the varsity boys basketball coach. He has also coached football for MCMS and MCHS. His nomination says: Scott is always smiling and welcoming our students into the building and his classes. Whenever a student is going through something difficult he is always there to listen and give advice, a pep talk, or whatever they need. He sees the best in all of our students and works to tell them how much they’ve improved and how much potential he sees in them. He coaches at the middle and high school level. He is able to ensure that his athletes are physically and mentally healthy, as well as building their character and preparing them for the future. It never ceases to amaze me how inspirational he is to our students and staff. Congratulations, Scott, we truly appreciate your dedication to our students!

Montgomery County R-II is taking nominations for Teacher of the Year. Teachers can be nominated for the Teacher of the Year in their building. A district Teacher of the Year will be selected from the buildings Teachers of the Year. Nominations will be taken from February 9 - 29, 2024. The building winners will be announced the week of March 11. The district winner will be announced the week of March 25, 2024. Her rendition of the Wildcat Victory song and dance has become a cherished tradition, lifting the spirits of players and fans alike. The Montgomery County R2 school district will be closed on Tuesday, January 23, due to the icing conditions of our secondary and gravel roads. However, all AMI homework from Friday, January 19, will now be due Wednesday, January 24th. Lastly, Tuesday, January 23, will be a traditional snow day.

J.R. is part of the MCR-2 grounds and maintenance crew. Before he worked for the school district, he was an active supporter of the Wildcats. His nomination says: J.R. is a wildcat through and through. He fills our hallways with his kind smile and jolly chuckle. He is helpful, kind and willing to do whatever needs to be done. It is a joy to watch him eat lunch with our students. He can be seen all over the district on and off the clock encouraging kids and cheering for the Wildcats. Miss Katelyn is currently a special education paraprofessional at Jonesburg Elementary. Previously she was the preschool paraprofessional at JBE and MCE. Her nomination says: Katelyn is a paraprofessional at our school this year. I have enjoyed watching her build relationships with the students she works with each day. I get the privilege to see Katelyn interact with students in my room and watch her interact with my own child with special needs. My daughter absolutely loves Katelyn. That makes a mama heart so happy! We are blessed to have Katelyn at JBE! Katelyn is at JBE full time this year as a para. She has done so well with the students she is with one on one with by meeting them where they are at but still having high expectations. She is eager to learn and step in where she is needed. As a classroom teacher, she is willing to talk with me about strategies and ideas for the betterment of ALL kiddos in my class, not just the ones she is in there to support.
